Montpelier Plantation is a luxurious hilltop sanctuary. The 18th centuary sugar plantation is now a chic, private hideaway. This boutique hotel sits on a sixty-acre estate in the the south unspoiled island of Nevis, 800ft above sea level with breathtaking views across the countryside to the sea.


The resort offers 8 Premier Rooms, 8 Plantation Rooms, 1 Garden Suite and a 2-bedroom Villa Suite.

Facilities in each room: either king size bed with a canopy or 4-poster, or twin beds, ceiling fan, air-conditioning, direct dial telephone, iron and ironing board, in-room safe, hair dryer, fridge, private veraveranda, bathroom with bath and shower and tea/coffee making facilities.

Room categories:

  • Premier Rooms - Semi-detached cottages house the spacious premier rooms which are dotted along the edge of the hillside, with views across the valley to the ocean in the distance. Each room has tiled floors with white washed walls, mahogany writing desk and cedar lined wardrobes, louvered windows and a door leading onto a private terrace. The spacious bathrooms have full size bath with overhead shower, welcome amenity pack including cotton wool buds, shoe sponge, shower cap, sewing kit, shampoo, conditioner and bath gel.
  • Plantation Rooms - These newly refurbished rooms, all with king size beds, offer a little more luxury for guests. The amenities are the same as the premier category, include new tiles and wooden floors, restyled décor throughout and a chic modern look to the bathrooms including vessel sinks, seductive lighting, solid oak tops, and new temperature controlled showers with rain-shower heads.
  • Junior Suite - The junior suite includes all the above plus a separate living room and terrace with sofa bed, DVD player and a private reading gazebo with large sofa. This junior suite can be combined with another room to form a two bedroom junior suite.
  • Garden Suite - The junior suite was totally renovated during the autumn 2008 closure and became the garden suite which include a private entrance from the garden terrace, an expansive living space including the bedroom, a state of the art bathroom and is furnished in a chic contemporary style.
  • The Villa Suite - Stylish separate 2-bedroom cottage decorated in chic Plantation style, with views over the lawn and out to sea on one side, and Nevis Peak with Nelson's Lookout on the other side. Spacious living room opening onto two covered porches and the open sun deck and an inviting 9 x 7 foot plunge pool. Full entertainment centre with Internet, TV, DVD, CD and MP3 station, wet bar, Nespresso coffee machine and separate kettle for "Revolution" tea. Two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and semi outdoor showers with views of Nevis Peak and bathtub. Air conditioned bedrooms and ceiling fans throughout.

  • Lunch at 1787 Bar & Bistro on the Montpelier Estate - open 6 days a week with signing privileges for guests. A few minutes walk away - or shuttle service available.
  • Afternoon tea at the Pool Bar - 3.30pm to 5.30pm.
  • Sundowners at 1787 Bar & Bistro from 6pm.
  • Pre dinner drinks and cocktails in the Great Room from 7.15pm.
  • Dinner - 3-course dinner in the Great Room Terrace from 7.30 pm onwards or 4-course dinner in The Mill, open most nights. Also at 1787 Bar & Bistro for more casual dining - 6pm to 9pm.
